Water Quality

The City of Manhattan Beach is dedicated to providing residents with safe, reliable, and high-quality drinking water. Our water comes from a combination of locally pumped groundwater and imported surface water supplied by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. This blended supply is continuously monitored, tested, and treated to meet or exceed all State of California and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency drinking water standards designed to protect public health.

Water quality is evaluated through an extensive monitoring program that includes routine sampling at water sources, treatment facilities, and throughout the distribution system. Each year, the City publishes an Annual Water Quality Report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report, which summarizes testing results and explains how detected constituents compare to regulatory limits. In addition, the City prepares specialized reports, such as the Triennial Public Health Goal Report, to provide further transparency when advisory public health benchmarks are exceeded, even when all enforceable standards are met.

Together, these reports reflect the City’s commitment to transparency, regulatory compliance, and ongoing investment in water infrastructure and treatment systems. We encourage customers to explore the detailed water quality information available on the following pages and to contact the Public Works Utilities Division with any questions about their drinking water.
