The 2025-2028 Police Department Strategic Plan (PDF) took effect on July 1, 2025 and will conclude June 30, 2028.  The Police Department Strategic Plan serves as a road map to guide the Police Department in the delivery of police services to the Manhattan Beach community.  Since 2008, MBPD has utilized a multi-year strategic planning process to establish goals and priorities and to serve as our road map for the future.

Workshops, surveys, and meetings were conducted with supervisors and with sworn and civilian personnel representing every Bureau in the Police Department. A community workshop with community stakeholders was also conducted in preparation for the strategic plan. As a result of the workshops and planning sessions, several goals were identified:

Goal 1: Innovative Crime Fighting Equipment & Technology

Goal 2: Investing in Our People

Goal 3: Community Engagement & Outreach

Within each of these goals are quantifiable and measurable objectives and action items which outline how the Department will work to attain these goals.  Check back for annual updates to our Strategic Plan progress.
