The 2023-2024 Strategic Plan (PDF) took effect on January 1, 2023 and concluded on December 31, 2024.  The Police Department Strategic Plan serves as a road map to guide the Police Department in the delivery of police services to the Manhattan Beach community.  Since 2008, MBPD has utilized a multi-year strategic planning process to establish goals and priorities and to serve as our road map for the future.

Workshops, surveys, and meetings were conducted with supervisors and with sworn and civilian personnel representing every Bureau in the Police Department. A community workshop with community stakeholders was also conducted in preparation for the strategic plan. As a result of the workshops and planning sessions, several goals were identified:

Within each of these goals are quantifiable and measurable objectives and action items which outline how the Department will work to attain these goals.  

Goal 1: Proactive Crime Fighting Strategies
Continue to explore and implement best-practice progressive policing strategies that will continue to make Manhattan Beach a wonderful place in which to live and work.

Goal 2: Community Collaboration and Engagement
Continue to build upon the successful community-police partnership that exists in Manhattan Beach.

Goal 3: Employee Development
Continue to provide our employees with the tools and training they need to thrive in their jobs and provide the highest levels of police services to the Manhattan Beach community.

Plans are underway to develop the next Strategic Plan, which will begin July 1, 2025 and take us through June 30, 2028. The community is invited to provide their input at the Community Strategic Planning Workshop on March 5, 2025 at 6:00 PM in the Police Department Community Room (420 15th Street) and by email until March 31, 2025.
