    Ride Along Requests

The Manhattan Beach Fire Department (MBFD) maintains a limited ride along program. All interested parties are required to complete the below application before participating in a ride along. Incomplete and/or inaccurate applications may delay, or result in a denial of, your request. Requests will only be considered when an application has been received, and the following conditions are satisfactorily met:

    • Members of the public requesting a ride along shall be a minimum of 15 years old, and in good physical and mental condition. Minors must have the approval of a parent or guardian to participate on a ride along.
    • The duration of the ride along shall be up to 8 hours, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The duration of the ride along is subject to change according to the Division Chief.
    • Due to Constitutional "right to privacy" and HIPAA, laws, participants are not allowed to electronically record (take photo, video, or audio) at any time during the response to an emergency call and must complete the Manhattan Beach FD Observer HIPAA Policy document found below.
    • Manhattan Beach Fire Department reserves the right to refuse participation on a ride along to anyone.

Please email the completed application and HIPAA form to manhattanbeachfd@manahttanbeach.gov for review and approval.
