Permanent Stage Two Water Shortage
The City has had a long‐standing commitment to water conservation. On May 19, 2015, the City established permanent water conservation by adopting Ordinance No. 15-0008; in January 2022, the City declared a Stage 1 Water Shortage; and in June 2022, the City declared a Stage 2 Water Shortage, in accordance with the emergency water conservation regulations enacted by the State Water Resources Control Board.
Irrigating Non-Functional Turf
The regulations issued by the State Water Resources Control Board also bans the irrigation of non-functional turf with potable water in commercial, industrial, and institutional sites (residential properties are not included). However, the use of water is not prohibited by this section to the extent necessary to ensure the health of trees and other perennial non-turf plantings or to the extent necessary to address an immediate health and safety need.
As part of the City's conservation efforts, recycled water is used in a vast majority of its public spaces. Check out the Recycled Water tab below which identifies all the locations within the city currently being irrigated with recycled water. All areas that are irrigated by recycled water will have purple signs identifying them.
My Water Advisor
With the recent completion of this project, a new customer portal, My Water Advisor, is now available to all utility customers. The My Water Advisor portal will enable customers to view their daily water consumption, set up leak alerts, and more. In addition to the YouTube video below, the City created an informational flyer for My Water Advisor (PDF) that will assist customers with creating an account.
