Home MenuLeaf Blowers remain prohibited in Manhattan Beach
The use of all mechanical leaf blowers (gas, battery, electric) for any purpose is prohibited.
Manhattan Beach continues to enforce its ban on the use of all mechanical leaf blowers including gas, battery, and electric models under Municipal Code M.B.M.C. 5.48.330. This ordinance is designed to protect our community's air quality, public health, and peace.
Why the Ban Matters
Leaf blowers can stir up harmful airborne particles such as pollen, pesticides, mold, spores, animal waste, and heavy metals like lead and mercury. This ban helps protect the general public from pollution caused by airborne particles.
Embracing Natural Yard Care
Instead of blowing leaves away, consider raking, sweeping, or letting them naturally mulch your yard. Mulched fallen leaves can help:
- Suppress weeds and keep soil moist
- Return nutrients to your lawn and garden as they decompose
- Provide habitat for local pollinators
For those who need mechanical help, leaf vacuums can collect leaves without blowing harmful particles into the air.
