Historic Preservation

Incorporated in 1912, the City of Manhattan Beach has changed from a sparsely populated community envisioned as a resort town, to the vibrant and dynamic city it is today. While there has been significant redevelopment of residential and commercial properties over the past few decades, many older structures remain. The purpose of the City’s Historic Preservation Program is to provide opportunities to identify and preserve the City’s unique history through voluntary preservation of properties that exemplify its historical context.
