Project Pulse: Downtown MB Update at City Council Meeting

Tuesday, April 21, 2026 | 6:00 PM

An update on the Project Pulse initiative to redevelop two City-owned properties is scheduled to be presented to the City Council on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 6:00 PM:

  • 1155 Morningside Drive (Parking Lot 3)
  • 400 Manhattan Beach Boulevard (former U.S. Bank building)

What’s This About?

In August 2025, the City Council began exploring permanent redevelopment options for these two downtown properties and launched a public engagement program to gather community input.

Since then:

  • The City collected feedback from the community.
  • On January 20, 2026, the City Council narrowed down the list of redevelopment options.
  • Staff were directed to continue community outreach and bring back more information.
  • On March 11, 2026, the Planning Commission hosted a study session.

At this meeting, Community Development staff will provide an opportunity for the City Council and community to review progress to-date and discuss next steps in the planning process (including upcoming community outreach events).
