Discover Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by highlighting its fractures with gold or silver, transforming damaged objects into works of art. In this hands-on workshop at Manhattan Beach Art Center, Shoshi Watanabe (Zakka Bakka) and Katherine Clark will teach a modern Kintsugi method using contemporary materials that make the process more accessible. Participants will explore the history, culture, and philosophy of Kintsugi while creating a beautifully restored ceramic piece to take home. All materials provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a ceramic item from home to repair. Cracked ceramic bowls will be provided for those who do not have a piece to bring.
