Manhattan Beach’s Environmental Sustainability Division strives to create a healthy, sustainable, and resilient city while furthering the City’s long history of environmental leadership, policy, and stewardship, both as a community and as a city government.

 

  • Residents may apply for a rebate with proof of purchase of new, battery-electric equipment and must return their old gas-powered equipment to an approved dismantler to be eligible for the rebate.

Manhattan Beach has a history of sustainability and environmental stewardship 

The City of Manhattan Beach has been a leader in environmental efforts throughout its history, but especially within the last two decades since the City created the first environmental staff position in 2008. The City has tackled numerous environmental issues that range from plastic pollution, to climate change, to urban sustainability. Many of the environmental laws the Manhattan Beach City Council passed have since been replicated by other cities, counties, and states.

Environmental sustainability is a part of Manhattan Beach’s core values, and the City will continue to strive for a safer, cleaner, and healthier environment, so that future generations can enjoy the same benefits and privileges as we do now.

  • Introduction: West Basin is excited to bring back its annual event in-person at the front parking lot of the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility in the City of El Segundo. The City will have a booth this year to promote water conservation.

Join the City of Manhattan Beach Public Works Department along with several other South Bay Cities, Water Districts, and Manhattan Beach Roundhouse Aquarium as we celebrate West Basin's 75th anniversary as a Water District.

West Basin is excited to bring back its annual event in-person at the front parking lot of the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility in the city of El Segundo. This year they are throwing West Basin a birthday party! West Basin is celebrating 75 years since its formation as a District. Enjoy a day filled with fun, family-friendly water education activities, games, tours, and more!
